Ian Brownbill has steeped down form his role as MD of Flixton Band

After a musically inspiring year as Musical Director, Ian Brownbill has decided to end his tenure at Flixton Band.

During his time Ian led the band to great success at the North West Regional contests — with victory in the Second Section in 2017 and third place just a couple of weeks ago in Blackpool.

Cheltenham return

The band achieved a highly creditable 8th placing at the National Finals in Cheltenham last year and hopes to improve on that this time when they once again make the trip in September.

We would like to say a big thank you to Ian for all his hard work and inspiration and wish him every success for the futureBand spokesperson, Denis O'Gara

Musicianship and motivation

Band spokesperson, Denis O'Gara told 4BR: "Ian's musicianship and motivation was appreciated by everyone and he leaves Flixton well placed to progress into the First Section in 2019.

We would like to say a big thank you to Ian for all his hard work and inspiration and wish him every success for the future.

It is understood the band will be inviting applications for a new MD in the near future."
