20 brass and percussion performers have been selected for the final stages of the European Soloist Competition to be held in Utrecht later this year
Over 40 entrants were whittled down with these 20 players now going on to perform against each other in a further two rounds of competition.
Grand final
Three players will eventually be selected for the final to be held in Utrecht on May 3rd.
Half the field if made up of six euphonium and four cornet performers, but there are a trio of tubas as well as two marimba players and tenor horns plus tenor, bass trombone and baritone.
Six performers come from Switzerland, three from Belgium and the home nation of the Netherlands as well as representatives from Germany Italy, France Austria, Wales and Norway.
