The death has been announced of Wem Jubilee conductor Roger Thorne

The Wem Jubilee Band is mourning the loss of its highly respected Musical Director Roger Thorne, who died on 20th February.

Extreme sadness

A spokesperson told 4BR: "It's with extreme sadness and a very heavy heart that we have to announce the passing of such a talented, committed and much respected Musical Director.

Roger's personal legacy will continue through his two wonderful children, who are both very talented musicians, and also the vast array of people who have thrived under his direction over the years, not only in our band, but with others he worked with.

His musical legacy will live on through his vast selection of musical arrangements, played by bands around the world. He will be missed by many, many people."
