2018 sees the National Youth Band of Scotland celebrate its 60th anniversary, and to mark the occasion the Scottish Brass Band Association is looking for a composer to write a celebratory march to be given its world premiere at the NYBBS 60th Celebration Concert in Stirling in July.
Original march
The competition is open to young Scottish Composers, up to the age of 23, who are invited to submit an original march composition for brass band.
The scores should be submitted in PDF format along with an MP3 recording. A panel of judges will choose the top 3 compositions, with prizes of £1000, £500 and £250 on offer for the top three works
Performance premiere
In addition the winning march entry will be performed at the National Youth Band Celebration Concert at the Albert Hall, Stirling on the 29th July.
The winning composers will also be offered mentor sessions with well-known composers.
The closing date for entries is 1st March 2018.
