The Scottish Brass Band Association will welcome Cory, the world's number 1 ranked band to Perth in April to help celebrate the 60th anniversary of its hugely successful National Youth Brass Band.

And to celebrate the visit, they are giving the opportunity to come along and meet the players and MD Philip Harper before they take to the stage for a fantastic event featuring both bands at Perth Concert Hall on Wednesday 4th April (7.30pm)

Easy question

All you have to do is answer an easy question and you could be the lucky person enjoying a VIP package to meet the band, get two VIP tickets for the concert and get a signed Cory CD.

All you have to do is answer the following question:

In what year did Philip Harper take up the position of Musical Director at Cory?

Inspire

Speaking about the concert, SBBA President Carrie Boax told 4BR: "Scottish banding has always looked to inspire its young players by linking with the very best performers and musicians in the world, and we are delighted to do that once more by offering a warm welcome to Cory and Philip Harper.

The trip will include a number of different links with the band and the young players, as well as the fantastic concert in Perth, so keep an eye out for further news. This is going to be an event not to miss."

Hopefully Cory can similarly inspire some of the next generation of brass musicians north of the border, and provide a memorable night also for all in attendanceCory MD, Philip Harper

Looking forward

In response Philip Harper added: "We're really looking forward to working with the talented young people of the National Youth Brass Band of Scotland in April, and sharing the stage with them in Perth.

I fondly remember my days with the National Youth Band of Great Britain and the importance to my musical education and experience of working and playing with many inspirational musicians who were at that time at the forefront of the brass band world.

Hopefully Cory can similarly inspire some of the next generation of brass musicians north of the border, and provide a memorable night also for all in attendance."
