New timp rolls to be heard at Ifton

Ifton Colliery looks ahead to their Welsh Area contest debut with the help of a set of brand new timpani — the result of plenty of cold fingers and sore lips over the festive period.

Timps
  A majestic looking set...

Ifton Colliery Band recently took delivery of a set of brand new Majestic timpani after the hard work of no less than 30 festive season gigs saw them raise the funds to go shopping for a January bargain at the Butlins Mineworkers Championships in Skegness.

Paid off

Musical Director Scott Lloyd told 4BR: "We've been in real need of a new set of timps for some time, so the hard work, cold fingers and sore lips certainly paid off.

We went to Butlins and met up with Jaap Ruisch from Majestic and the team from Event-z who were great. They explained the options and the technical aspects and came up with a great deal too.

The service was excellent, the delivery date was agreed and bang on time so now our talented percussion team have a beautiful set of Majestic copper timps to play on."

He added: "This is a really exciting time for the band as we prepare to make our debuts at the Welsh Regional contest following our move over the border.

We know all about the quality of the opposition as Wales has a fantastic record of achievement at all levels at the Nationals. Now we want to make our mark."

Perfect deal

Event-z Managing Director Adrian Evans told 4BR: "We were delighted to be able to come up with the perfect deal for Ifton.

The band new exactly what they were looking for and with Jaap's expertise we were able to come up with a great deal on the right instruments for them. We wish Ifton every success at Swansea and look forward to hearing them in action on their debuts."
