Awards and prizes for Lofthouse players

The annual awards evening of Lofthouse 2000 Band saw plenty of prizes handed out — with the solo cornet section showing their brains to go with their playing talent.

There were plenty of trophies on offer at the recent annual Lofthouse Band Awards evening.

Over 50 members and guests came together for the night, where Musical Director Andrew Whitaker presented the prizes and principal cornet, James Whitaker, took the opportunity to give out the much sought after 'Lofties' which recognised the more unusual efforts by members of the band in the past year.

Awards

Cornet player Lucy Marshall was recognised as the 'Most Improved Player', with Andy Schofield voted by his fellow players as 'Bandperson of the Year'.

The 'Section of the Year' award was won by the horns of Adam Richardson (flugel), Hannah Whitaker, Emily Fawthrop, Andy Schofield and Michelle Tiffany.

Tintwistle Band
