Last few spaces left for Saxhorn Fest

If you want to join Katrina Marzella, Helen Varley and Gordon Higginbottom for a great day of tenor horn and baritone music making them you still have time to sign up.

  Katrina Marzella and Helen Varley will be leading the Saxhorn Fest at the University of Salford

There is still the opportunity to sign up for the exciting 'Saxhorn Fest' for tenor horns and baritones to be held at the University of Salford on Saturday 3rd February.

The event will be run by Katrina Marzella (solo baritone of Black Dyke) and Helen Varley (solo horn of Grimethorpe Colliery) two of the leading performers in the UK.

Over 70 people signed up

Over 70 players have already signed up with spaces still available for a few more to take part.

The event will run from 10.00am to 4.00pm, and will be full of fun filled activities aimed at all ages and abilities, including performances solos, duets and quartets as well as group workshops.

Also featured will be engaging music and several newly commissioned works for horn and baritone, written specially for the occasion, whilst there will be trade stands showcasing the latest instruments and merchandise.

Gordon Higginbottom

The legendary horn player Gordon Higginbottom will also be attendance and will take part in a special Q&A session to give some tips as well as talk about his amazing career which has been chronicled in his entertaining book, 'From Umchucks to Cadenzas'.

Bilton Silver Rugby Band

November 22 • Bilton Silver (Rugby) requires a cornet player to join our Championship Section band (Position negotiable). Under MD Brad Turnbull we have a varied programme of events. Rehearsals are held on Monday and Friday at 7-45pm in our own purpose built bandroom.


Besses o'th' Barn Band

November 21 • Under the direction of David W Ashworth, we are making every effort to complete the rebuild of this very famous brass band. We require one kit and one tuned percussionists plus one Back Row Cornet to complete our line up for the North West Area Contest.
