Profound joy for Tullis at award nomination

The world premiere of 'De Profundis' written by John Wallace and performed by the Tullis Russell Mills Band could be in line to pick up a prestigious RCS award.

After the successful premiere performance of 'De Profundis' written by John Wallace CBE (above) last summer at the East Neuk Festival, the members of the Tullis Russell Mills Band have been delighted to find out that the composition has been shortlisted for a prestigious RCS 'Community/Education Project of the Year' award.

Excellent accolade

'De Profundis' was based on the 19th century plain chant hymn by Sir Henry Walford Davies and included spoken poetry, bird song, valve clicks and multi-phonic sounds and was received with widespread critical acclaim.

A band spokesperson told 4BR: "Just being shortlisted is another excellent accolade for the Tullis Russell Mills Band at a time of major organisational change and rebuilding. Should the band win the award it would be a huge boost."
