The Annual General Meeting of Brass Bands England will take place this weekend at the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester (Saturday 27th January: 1.00pm start).
The formal meeting will see the appointment of trustees as well as reports from BBE Chairperson, Mike Kilroy and an interim CEO report from Andrew Coe.
Questions
It will also provide interested parties with the opportunity to ask searching questions of officers before BBE becomes National Portfolio funded through the Arts Council England as a Sector Support Organisation in April.
This new category gives financial support to bodies playing a vital role in supporting the cultural sector, although they will not themselves be directly producing or delivering art or culture.
The Arts Council England previously stated that it expects, "...these organisations to underpin our cultural infrastructure, to drive progress and change, and to provide valuable support for the sector..."4BR
Progress and change
The Arts Council England previously stated that it expects, "…these organisations to underpin our cultural infrastructure, to drive progress and change, and to provide valuable support for the sector.
They will offer economies of scale, access to expertise and innovation, sector leadership and artform and business development."
BBE is to receive £207,000 per year from April to do this.
