Cutt above the rest for City of Cardiff

The City of Cardiff (Melingriffith) Band hopes that their link with Garry Cutt for the Welsh Regional contest will lead to Albert Hall qualification over their rivals.

City of Cardiff Melingriffith (M1) Band will team up with Fairey Band MD Garry Cutt to spearhead their Championship Section challenge at the Welsh Regional Championships in March.

Extra places

With two additional qualification places up for grabs in Wales thanks to the pre-qualification of Tredegar and Cory from last year's Albert Hall final, the ambitious move lays down a real challenge to the other Welsh bands hoping to join the heavyweight duo in Kensington in October.

Top quality

Commenting on the appointment, Band Manager Alex James emphasised the need for a top quality 'man in the middle' for this year's assault.

"With our professional conductor Nigel Seaman is unable to take the band as he is working abroad and with the two extra places on offer, we decided to go all out and get one of the best in the business to lead us.

We are really looking forward to working with Garry and I'm sure we will learn so much from him during the run up to the contest."
