UniBrass looks to attract more students for free

A neat piece of promotional work will enable students to attend (and stay) at the UniBrass Championships this year — and all they have to do is fill in a form...

Unibrass
The UniBrass Championships take place at York Barbican in February

The UniBrass 2018 Championships will take place at the York Barbican conference and events venue on the 17th February, with 21 universities competing for the UniBrass Trophy and Shield honours.

Free contest tickets

Keen to ensure that it is a vibrant hub of activity, the UniBrass Foundation hopes to attract even more students to enjoy a taste of the event by offering free contest tickets to non-competing university brass bands and ensembles, or student brass players from universities that don't have a brass group.

To be eligible students should be a brass/percussion player and a student at a university that is not competing in this year's contest.

UniBrass experience

Foundation Chair, Alex Parker told 4BR: "Whilst we are thrilled that 21 bands are competing, we would like to see even more in future.

That's why we want to attract members of ensembles that are hoping to grow, bands that haven't been able to compete, or people who are looking to start their own brass group, so they can get a taste of the UniBrass experience and feel part of the university brass banding community."

In addition to ensuring everyone has a great time, anybody who signs up will be welcome to stay in the performers' accommodation on the Saturday evening at the University of York.
