The International Brass Band Summer School, will once again live up to its name and reputation as being the finest event of its kind when it opens its doors to players from around the globe in Swansea later this year.
Global reach
Led by Course Director Prof Nicholas Childs, the IBBSS attracts delegates from around the world, and the 2018 Summer School which takes place from 29th July to 4th August at University of Wales, Swansea has already signed up players of all levels, ages and nationalities.
This year cornet players will tutored by Richard Marshall, Tom Hutchinson and Chris Turner, whilst the euphoniums and baritones come under the expert leadership of Gary Curtin, Daniel Thomas and David Thornton. Brett Baker will once again inspire the trombones with Matthew Routley and Joseph Cook taking control of the tubas.
Zoe Hancock
All this and Prof Childs confirmed that Black Dyke star Zoe Hancock will lead the flugels with Owen Farr tutoring the horns, whilst the Black Dyke Trombone quartet, supported by Michael Rath Trombones will also appear.
Prof Childs told 4BR: "The IBBSS continues to grow, and we're determined to offer our delegates the very best musical and social experiences. Having world class tutors is such an important part of this and I'm delighted that Zoe Hancock will add to an already exceptional team."
Delighted to join
In response, Zoe added: "I'm delighted to join the International Brass Band Summer School.
It will be such fun and to be able to work with Owen Farr should ensure delegates can be inspired every day. It's the best musical holiday anyone can be a part of."
