The TCTC Group Band hopes to make its mark on the contest scene in 2018.

2018 brings a change of sponsor and identity for the former Co-operative Funeralcare Band North West, as after 60 years their association with the Co-operative movement came to an end.

They will now be known as the TCTC Group Band.

60 years at an end

Musical Director Jef Sparkes told 4BR: "We received notification in November that our sponsorship would be withdrawn at the end of the year.

Thankfully we made contact with other suitable sponsors and have been very fortunate in securing the support of TCTC Group who have had attachments with the band over several years."

TCTC Group has previously commissioned a solo from Paul Lovatt-Cooper for euphonium player Emily Braverman as well as engaging the band to appear at several special events, so this marks a new but welcoming chapter for the bandJef Sparkes
