The television series is looking for people to be part of the living history programme

A Welsh television production company is on the look-out for people who wish to travel back in time to the 1970s.

Factory Girls

The brand new living history series 'Factory Girls' will see participants experience what life was like working in the 'rag trade' clothing factories that were such a part of the Welsh industrial hinterland during a decade that saw the end of the Vietnam War, two Miners Strikes, Britain entering the Common Market, Chopper bikes and the invention of the Arctic Roll.

Rich history

A spokesperson for Wall to Wall Television told 4BR: "We are especially keen to speak to people who experienced the rich history of clothing factories in South Wales such as Kayser Bondor and Berlei but who also enjoyed the social activities that were also so much a part of them — from rugby teams to brass bands."

The BBC 2 programme will see people experience the type of work undertaken, the clothes that were worn, the hairstyles and the activities that made 1970s life so exciting.

Keen to hear

They added: "We would love to speak to people who worked in these clothing factories in the 1970s, and to tell us what life at home and work was really like.

We're very keen to hear their stories and are hoping that relatives or friends of former workers might be interested in taking part in the series."
