You can now relax to the sound of brass on Air New Zealand flights thanks to The Trumpet Guy...

  There will now be an easy listening brass option to relax to on Air New Zealand flights

Any passengers on Air New Zealand flights wishing to relax away the long hours with some brass music now have the chance to select Nelson City Brass cornet player John 'The Trumpet Guy' McGough on their in-flight entertainment.

John has just been selected on the international entertainment play-list of the national airline carrier with music from his album 'Two Shades of Brass'.

From today John joins the likes of Eva Cassidy, Michael Buble, Gwen Stefani, Eric Clapton and New Zealand legends Sir Howard Morrison, Dave Dobbyn and Gray Bartlett in the 'easy listening' section.

National Band

John was a part of the successful National Band of New Zealand that competed at this year's World Music Contest in Kerkrade and was also named 2016/7 'Top Musician of the Year' by the Variety Artist Club of New Zealand.

Putney and Wimbledon Brass Band

January 8 • Following our promotion to the 2nd section we are looking for a percussionist to do a bit of bing bonging on the timps for the regionals in March. We are a lovely band - everyone says so - so please get in touch. Rehearsals Weds from 1930 in Putney.


Mid Rhondda Band
