Brass bands have been featured on the BBC Radio 4 flagship evening news programme PM (22nd November) hosted by broadcaster Eddie Mair.

What do you think?

The feature introduced as 'What do you think of when someone says brass bands?', saw reporter Bob Walker report from the popular Bolsover Festival of Brass, which was broadcast live all over the globe in October this year.

He initially approached the Festival organisers after hearing about the worldwide success and profile of the event. He looked at how brass bands were working hard to survive as organisations as well as looking to link to different artistic genres to become much more innovative in their musical thinking.

He spoke to both local bands at the Bolsover contest as well as the visitors from Manger Old Stars from Norway, whilst also gauging the opinions of 4BR Editor Iwan Fox and BBW Chief Contributor Chris Thomas.
