David Johnson will be making a few more trips back to his native Cornwall over the next few months.

St Pinnock has announced that David Jonson will conduct the Cornish band at the 2018 West of England Area contest in Torquay.

It will see the MD of Aldbourne Band, regularly travel to his home county, which he left 27 years ago to join the Royal Marines Band Service.

Worldwide experience

During this time as a professional musician in the Royal Marines, David has performed all over the world, and for the past decade or more his music has been featured at the famous Mountbatten Festival in the Royal Albert Hall.

He told 4BR: "I'm looking forward to working with the ambitious team at St Pinnock. They've had an influx of talented players join in the last six months, all of whom I've worked with before.

I've been working with the band over the last couple of months in a series of successful concerts and plan to develop this further in the future."
