East Yorkshire Motor Services has announced two new signings ahead of its appearance at the forthcoming Scottish Open Championship next month.
Kevin Moxon returns to the soprano seat he vacated in July 2008, joining from the York Railway Institute Band, whilst Hull University student Siobahn Thomas comes in on percussion from Wakefield Metropolitan.
Look forward
Kevin told 4BR: "I was delighted to be asked back and I look forward to working with conductor Stig Maersk."
The experienced soprano player had also been conducting the York RI Golden Rail Band but had to step down for work and personal reasons before the lure of playing again kicked in with the offer from EYMS.
Excited
Meanwhile, Siobhan added: "I'm really excited to be asked to join, as I've always wanted to play with a Championship Section band. I'm looking forward to doing lots of concerts and to my debut at the Scottish Open."
Siobhan is a product of the Pontefract Music Centre, and has also played in both wind bands and big bands. She started her brass band career with Altofts & Normanton before enjoying spells with Wakefield Met and Kippax before joining EYMS.
We are really pleased to announce these signings, especially after sop player Kevin Donaldson's work commitments became impossible, and Henry Bourne left to go to the USABand Chairman, Tony Newiss
Thanks
Band Chairman, Tony Newiss told 4BR: "We are really pleased to announce these signings, especially after sop player Kevin Donaldson's work commitments became impossible, and Henry Bourne left to go to the USA.
We would like to place on record our thanks for the commitment and performances both made with us.
Kevin came to help out and ended up staying five years! We wish Kevin and Henry all the best and Kevin and Siobhan a long and happy stay with EYMS."
