Details have been announced of the Radio 2 Young Brass Award 2018.
The award is the network's nationwide search for emerging young brass musicians, and provides performers with the chance to progress their future musical ambitions, as well as giving an opportunity to showcase their talents.
The competition is open to brass players from the ages of 16 to 21 who must be resident in the UK.
Profile
Al Booth, Specialist Music Editor, Radio 2, told 4BR: "Brass band music is such an important part of UK culture and Radio 2 is proud to support the next generation of musicians from the banding world.
Over the years we have seen some tremendously talented young people come through this competition, and the profile of the awards have gone from strength to strength because of this.
It's so rewarding to see that a love of brass band music is still thriving amongst our young musicians, and continues to remain a truly cross generational genre."
