Dinnington Band has announced the appointment of Izzy Faulkner as their newly principal cornet.
The 20 year old medical student at Sheffield University has helped the Yorkshire band out a few times this year, and was keen to take up the role after playing with Loxley Silver.
Welcome
The band have also welcomed respected BBb tuba player John Cook. John is a former musician with the Royal Engineers Band and a previous member of Yorkshire Main Colliery. He returns after a 12 year break from playing.
MD Lindon Bolt told 4BR: "Both players will be huge assets to us. John is a fantastic musician and in only a couple of rehearsals has made a real mark, and Izzy is a very talented, stylish young cornet player who has a lovely sound, bags of enthusiasm and is a great example for the many young players we have to look up to.

Ideal time
He added: "I'm really looking forward to a bright future with these new players in the ranks. The changes come at an ideal time as we prepare for contests in the run up to Christmas as well as a busy start to 2018 including a tour to Holland."
Other changes also see the return of Sally Brookes to the soprano cornet seat, Mark Littlewood moving back to cornet to further strengthen the section and Andy Clarkson returning to the back row after a short sabbatical.
