Flowers continue to sign up exciting talent as they head towards the British Open in Birmingham on September 9th.
Following the arrival of Belgian star Lode Violet for the contest on principal cornet, they have announced the signing of Emily Evans on solo horn.
Award winner
Originally from Camborne, Emily has just completed her third year of study at the Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama in Cardiff.
She is tutored by Owen Farr and has won the Philip Jones Brass Ensemble Competition (2016 and 2017) and the McGrenery Chamber Prize (2017). She also reached the final of this year's prestigious Linda Mowatt solo competition.
A former member of the National Youth Brass Band of Great Britain and the National Children's Brass Band of Great Britain, Emily has been solo horn with Lanner & District Silver, and more latterly, Tongwynlais Temperance.
Ideal qualities
Principal Conductor David Childs told 4BR: "I've known Emily's playing for many years and have always been impressed by her beautiful sound, control and lyricism; qualities ideally suited to this position.
I feel this is a positive signing for both the band and the player, and look forward to working with her as we look towards Symphony Hall."
