A new home renews old links for Ifton Colliery Band

Ifton Colliery Band hopes to be boosted by some spiritual musical inspiration as they look forward to a new chapter in their history.

The band will be moving to a new rehearsal premises at the Black Park Chapel in Halton, Chirk, thanks to the support of the Black Park Chapel Trust, who are working closely with the band in providing a facility promoting all forms of music.

Strong links

It is also a move that retains a strong link to the band's heritage as Ifton Colliery had strong links with Black Park Colliery thanks to the two deep mines being connected by a 910 yard long tunnel.

In addition many miners moved from Black Park to Ifton when the former colliery closed in 1949.

Welsh move

The band is currently rehearsing for the Third Section National Finals in Cheltenham, where they will proudly represent the Midlands Region for the last time before moving over to the Second Section in the Welsh Area from January 2018.
