Following the recent departure of Sam Fisher as Musical Director, Old Silkstone Band has announced that the experienced Owen Wedgewood has agreed to lead them for the foreseeable future, including their appearance at the 2018 Yorkshire Regional Championships.

Fresh approach

Band Chairman Ian Askey told 4BR: "Owen has been conducting the band along with Gavin Somerset over the busy summer period, and the players have enjoyed his fresh approach to rehearsals.

He brings a wealth of knowledge as we look forward to a busy end to 2017 and the start of 2018. We are looking forward to working with him and hope we continue to further develop on the strong foundations laid by Sam."

First appearance

Owen's first appearance with the Yorkshire band is this weekend at Brodsworth Hall.
