The delegates have already enjoyed their time in Swansea.

Delegates from around the musical globe are enjoying the unique mix of world-class tuition, superb music and plenty of fun at the International Brass Band Summer School in Swansea.

Worldwide appeal

The course is taking place for the 27th time with 125 attendees from 11 different countries — including the first from Taiwan, as Course Director Prof Nicholas Childs told 4BR.

"It's another amazing group of musicians who want to experience the best brass band summer school course in the world,"he said.

"Where else can players from Australia, Japan, USA, Norway, Europe, and not forgetting Wales and out first welcome delegate from Taiwan get together in this way? It's a course like no other."

Partners

Making sure that is retains its position as the leading event of its kind are a raft of high profile partners, with Besson, World of Brass, Rath Trombones, Band Supplies, Geneva, Kapitol Promotions, British Bandsman, SHB Hire and GK Design all providing assistance and know how, whilst publishers such as Prima Vista Musikk and Kirklees ensure the delegates have plenty of music on hand for individual, sectional and full rehearsals.

It's all topped off with the 'Who's Who' of tutors, with the likes of Richard Marshall, Tom Hutchinson, Gary Curtin, Dan Thomas, Owen Farr, Brett Baker, Chris Turner and Joseph Cook all on hand to share their expertise, whilst this year's guest composer is Paul Lovatt-Cooper.

Eagerly awaited

Prof Childs added: "Paul's music is so popular that we had to have him here this year. His presentations are eagerly awaited by all the delegates."

The free end of course concert on Friday evening (7.00pm) includes Paul Lovatt-Cooper's 'Road to Run' and 'The Final Voyage' with guest soloists Gary Curtin and Richard Marshall.

The concert will be held at Swansea University, Singleton Campus, Fulton House 1st Floor, SA2 8PP on Friday 4th August.
