Heartfield stops beating at Blidworth

After eight years at the helm, Martin Heartfield has steeped down from his role as MD at Blidworth Welfare Band.

4BR has been informed that after eight successful years at the helm, Martin Heartfield has relinquished his role as Musical Director of Blidworth Welfare Band.

Nationals

Under his direction the band progressed from the Second Section to the Championship Section, enjoying considerable success along the way, including qualifying for the National Finals on four occasions and claiming a trio of Bolsover Entertainment titles.

In 2016 the band came fourth at the First Section National Finals and in 2017 made their debuts at the All England Master International Championship.

Thrived

A spokesperson told 4BR: "The band has really thrived and enjoyed their time under Martin's baton and we wish him, and his son Joe, all the best in their future endeavours.

Meanwhile, Martin added: "I've enjoyed a fantastic eight years at Blidworth and can't thank all the players and supporters enough for their friendship and hard work.

The progression from the Second to the Championship section in that time has been an achievement that I will cherish and I wish them every success in the future and will follow their progress with pride."
