The players of Sherwood Forest Brass were recently joined in concert by Hatfield Band and singers Maryla Mondszein, Tom Cartledge and Emily Bailey for a charity concert in aid of the Chemotherapy Unit at Nottingham City Hospital.
Support
Cornet player Amy Mondschein is currently undergoing treatment there, and the band, family and friends wished to show their support to her and the work undertaken by the pioneering unit by staging the fund raising concert in the beautiful setting of St Philip Neri Church in Mansfield.
The audience was treated to plenty of great music making — from banding classics to opera, whilst the undoubted highlight was the performance by Amy herself of 'Concerto De Aranjuez'4BR
Great music making
The audience was treated to plenty of great music making — from banding classics to opera, whilst the undoubted highlight was the performance by Amy herself of 'Concerto De Aranjuez'.
Typifying her strength of character, Amy followed the solo up in the second half with the duet 'Claire De Lune' which was written for her father, Stan Lippeatt — with family friend Mark Walters playing alongside her for the occasion.
£750 was raised on the evening which takes Amy's fund raising total to £3,500.
