Tonight we feature some great players and their instruments who are not always at the forefront of everyone's mind, but are an essential part of the process nevertheless; including the bass trombone, the tenor and baritone horns and increasingly on today's scene, the human voice.

Electronic artist and singer Hannah Peel has added the sound of a brass band to her latest CD Mary Cassio: Journey to Cassiopeia.

She tells Frank Renton about how her early days playing trombone in her local band first gave her a love for the brass sound and how she has used this in her music.
