Busking and belly dancing adds to community celebration

The Ystradgynlais Band certainly played their part in a great community weekend in their home town — although not quite indulging in a bit of brilliant belly dancing...

Ystradgynalis
The Ystradgynlais Band were a central part of the festival entertainment.

The Ystradgynlais Band recently took part in a musical extravaganza in their home town, as the community got together for 'Buskagynlais' featuring musicians, choirs, ensembles and children's entertainers.

There was a host of local talent on show and a number of artists travelled a considerable distance to take part — including a choir from the United States.

Workshops and belly dancing

The band played a brace of sets at Parc-yr-Orsedd by the idyllic River Tawe, whilst the town was filled with marquees and gazebos, and decorated in bunting and balloons which added to the carnival atmosphere.

As well as the excellent entertainment, there were opportunities to take part in workshops and even some belly dancing!

Bravo to the organisers. This was a fantastic event. It created such community spirit and the band was right at the heart of it. The lovely weather made it a perfect dayBand Secretary, Phil Morgan
