Marion City Band based in the City of Marion in Adelaide, South Australia, will soon be giving a concert performance that everyone present will be able to toast in celebration.
The band is set to perform Mussorgsky's iconic 'Pictures at an Exhibition' at an art exhibition at one of Australia's most famous wineries — allowing prospective buyers of fine art the chance to also enjoy a fine band and fine wine at the same time.
Painting a picture
The concept is one that MD Veronica Boulton conceived of some years ago, as she told 4BR: "I wanted to hold a concert of this amazing work in conjunction with an art exhibition, highlighting the power of music in 'painting' a picture.
Now we have the unique opportunity to do just that with the renowned Bird in Hand winery — Australian Winemaker of the Year in 2014 and 2015 and the Hills Art Collective."

Invitation only
The invitation only event will see 18 hanging frames and additional wall space. It is anticipated that there will be at least 100 paintings displayed.
Artist in Residence Ingrid Mangan will be painting 10 'Pictures', most of which will be completed in time for the exhibition, whilst euphonium player Fletcher Mitchell will be a guest soloist for the concerts, which will not only feature 'Pictures at an Exhibition', but will also include other works including the world premiere of 'Cu Allaidh' by Jarrett Wheatley, an American composer currently working in Japan.
Marion City Band was formed in 1969 and today it provides opportunities for musical growth and development to youths and adults alike through its four ensembles: Marion City Band, Warriparinga Brass, Warriparinga Youth and Heaven Brass.
