A trio of talented young cornet players made their debuts with Leyland Band at their recent performance at the Prescot Festival.
Musical Director Thomas Wyss welcomed James Nash (soprano), Bethanie Moore (tutti cornet) and Sam Ball (repiano).
Signings
A Leyland spokesperson told 4BR: "James joins from Freckleton, fresh from his recent performance in the BBC Radio 2 Young Brass Award. He is a multi-instrumentalist crossing both band and orchestral genres, and is star in the making.
Bethanie has already packed a lot into her short playing career, including stints at Wingates and Hepworth, and joins us after a successful tenure as principal cornet at Longridge.
Completing the trio is Sam, who studied cornet and trumpet at Chetham's School of Music in Manchester, and progressed in a number of bands to become assistant principal cornet of Wingates Band at just 15."

Recent additions
The signings for the North West Band build on the recent signings of Iain Fieldhouse, Dan Moore and Adrian Bird earlier in the year. After a busy recent concert schedule, Leyland will be heading to perform at the prestigious Innsbruck Promenade Festival later next month.
The spokesperson added: "We would also like to record our thanks to Joe Martin who has been our soprano cornet for the last two years, but is now entering his final year at the Royal Northern College of Music and will focus on his trumpet studies."
