Bands are being invited to attend the first Bandsafe seminar given by Brass Band England's Safeguarding Officer Heidi Bradley.
The seminar, which will take place on Friday 23rd June (7.30pm to 9.30pm) at St. Patrick's RC Primary School, Foxholes Road in Rochdale (OL12 0ET) will provide essential advice and support on the BandSafe, which is a free online self-assessment toolkit for brass bands.
Minimise risks
It has been specifically designed by Heidi, and is based upon a set of standards written by the NSPCC for youth organisations. The aim is to support bands in the development of procedures that minimise risks to the members and develop a robust integrity of safeguarding policies.
The group seminar will provide a brief run through the BandSafe site and give the opportunity to consider its four main sections and the way they can be applied to individual bands.
Important opportunity
Shirley Woodward, General Secretary of the North West Amateur Brass Band Association (NWABBA), who are hosting the event told 4BR: "This is a very important opportunity for bands to effectively utilise an important on-line tool.
We wish to help bands to put Safeguarding at the heart of their organisation."
The event is free to all NWABBA members and members of BBE.
