  There are a number of new signings at VBS Poynton Band

VBS Poynton Band has announced the signing of Tom Nickless on solo Eb tuba following the departure of Iain McKnight to Foden's.

New signings

Tom comes in following his appearance with Oldham (Lees) at the recent Spring Festival, and is a former player of Pemberton Old Band as well as being a current member of the Young Ambassadors Band.

Also joining is Salford University student Sam Myers on bass trombone. He replaces Ian Drayton who joined Ashton Band prior to the North West Area contest. Meanwhile, Megan Bousfield comes in on 2nd cornet from Greenhalls Band. Megan is also assistant principal cornet at Foden's Youth Band.

Commenting on the signings, MD Stig Maersk told 4BR: "I'd like to welcome Tom, Sam and Megan. They are all fantastic young players and I look forward to them helping us to continue to build and progress."

It was also announced that following Iain McKnight's departure, Jess Tredrea will take over associate conducting responsibilities alongside playing flugel horn.

May 28 • Tintwistle Band are looking for front row cornet players to help complete our team. . We rehearse Monday and Thursday 8-10pm at our own bandroom on Old Road in Tintwistle, under the baton of MD Jim Henson, and perform a variety of concerts all year round.
