The Scottish Borders Youth Brass Band (SBYBB) has been nominated for a high profile national award as part of the Chorus Community Music Awards 2017.
Borders bands
Made up of 40 brass and percussion musicians between the ages of 11-18 from the Scottish Borders area, the players are affiliated to the Borders brass bands in Peebles, Innerleithen, Selkirk, Galashiels, St. Boswells, Jedburgh, Hawick and Langholm.
The band is directed by the inspirational figure of Alan Fernie, and administered by the Scottish Borders Brass Band Association as part of their extensive youth development programme.

The SBYBB won the Senior Section of the Scottish Youth Brass Band Championships held in Perth in November last year and proudly represented Scotland at the recent European Youth Brass Band Championships.
Inaugurated in 2014, the awards are aimed at groups and ensembles of young people taking part in music making, and come from every type of community based music group.
