The Bolsover Summer School has announced that it will feature a brace of free concerts this year as well as adding to its list of world class tutors.
Free concerts
The popular Tutor Concert will take place on Wednesday 26th July at Shirebrook Village Hall starting at 7.00pm, featuring the talents of Mark Wilkinson, David Thornton, Brett Baker, Simon Howell, Steve Jones and new horn tutor Jonathan Bates (above).
With the added attraction of a welcoming bar to go with the great family friendly music it offers a fantastic chance to hear some of the brass band world's finest players in action.
Meanwhile, the free course ending concert will take place at 7.00pm on Friday 28th July at Heritage High School, Clowne, starting at 7.00pm.
New music
This year's concert will feature new music as well as some traditional favourites and will highlight compositions from Paul Lovatt-Cooper. The guest soloist is Mark Wilkinson, principal cornet of Foden's Band.
New tutor
A spokesperson told 4BR: "As the Summer School continues to grow we are delighted to able to showcase the talents of both the delegates and their tutors at two free local concerts.
We are also thrilled to be able to welcome Jonathan Bates to the tutor team — someone who has already made a huge impression with his music with people in the area with his 'Portraits of Tibshelf' composition.
He will now tutor the tenor horn and flugel players replacing Paul Bennett who unfortunately has work commitments preventing him attending."
