Midlands Beer & Brass entices great line-up

The Midlands Beer & Brass Entertainment competition takes place this weekend — and it is a great family day out to enjoy!

Who can ask for anything more at the Midlands Beer and Brass Entertainment contest

The popular Midlands Beer & Brass Entertainment competition takes place this weekend (Saturday 20th) with 17 bands taking part.

The contest started in 2013 and became known as the Wood Farm Brewery Brass Band Entertainment Contest, and today it has grown into a great family day out with the bands playing in front of an open fronted marquee with their 25 minute programmes.

Different levels

The competition will see bands from the First to the Fourth Section in mixed order, so that the audience can enjoy bands of different standards.

Event organiser John Randle told 4BR: "This year we have a full 17 band list and had a reserve list of five. However, we're delighted that we've been able to accept a youth band that will entertain the audience during the lunch break as well.

Add to that some wonderful real ale, excellent food and great music in a wonderful outdoor setting, you have a perfect English day out. All we need is a guarantee of extra sunshine!

We receive no sponsorship and the money from entries gets divided up for the prize money. All we ask is people buy a programme for a £1 and buy a strip of raffle tickets."

First band on

The first band is on at 9.15am and is rounded off a concert by the Camping & Caravaning Club Band. For those camping they can pay at the gate.

The contest takes place at Victoria Farm Campsite, Highcross, Lutterworth (LE17 5AU). Just off the A5, 1 mile from the M69 and 3 miles from the M1.
