Listen to the Band: 20th June

Band libraries around the world are full of the wonderful arrangements and original compositions of Gordon Langford, who died in April.

Frank Renton looks back over his distinguished career, which included numerous ground breaking recordings with Black Dyke Band, an Ivor Novello Award and the orchestration of several blockbuster Hollywood movies.

Frank will revisit his classic arrangements of 'British Folk Songs' and remember great original music such as his 'Rhapsody for Trombone'.

Listen to the Band: 27th June

Featuring street bands to the very best band concerts, from the meeting of Northern Soul and brass bands to giving an opportunity for brass musicians to join in with the iconic brass band movie 'Brassed Off', this year's Durham Brass Festival continues its tradition of innovation and of being a real melting pot of brass styles.

Director Paul Gudgin takes Frank Renton through next month's city wide schedule which aims to fill every corner of Durham with the sounds of brass.
