Legends set for Charity fund raiser

Some of the great legends of the modern brass band world will be helping two great causes in July — and you can play your acrobatic part too...

Steve Sykes
The Stephen Sykes Appeal will benefit from the great evening of entertainment.

Some of the true 'greats' of the modern brass band world are set to perform in aid of Breast Cancer Now and the Steven Sykes Appeal in a concert with Hatfield Band on Saturday 22nd July.

Alan Morrison, Mark Walters, Steve Sykes and Kevin Holdgate will be centre stage under the baton of Stan Lippeatt, with all the money raised donated to Breast Cancer Now through the wonderful Boobs & Brass organisation, as well as the `Save Stephen' Appeal.

Much need funds

Organiser Mike Kilmartin told 4BR: "Raising much need funds for these two great appeals was the easy decision — and I didn't even have to twist a few arms to get these great players to help out either.

I have a good friend who has been diagnosed with breast cancer and young Stephen Sykes needs all our help too as he undergoes his treatment programme."

Acrobat challenge

Mike added: "Askern Miners Welfare have offered the venue free of charge for which I offer them my sincere thanks, and during the evening, we will be performing the 'Acrobat Challenge', so any trombone player attending the concert is very welcome to bring their instrument along and be a part of it!"
