The Hendon Band of the Salvation Army is to rejoin forces with top Salvationist vocalist Bobby Irvine in a reprise of the first ever Northern Highlights festival in aid of the Clarence Adoo Trust sponsored by SP&S and Yamaha.
The concert entitled 'Northern Highlights 2017' takes place on Saturday 10th June in Castleford and comes 15 years after the pair came together for the inaugural event in 2002.
Performers
The band will be conducted by Dr Stephen Cobb and the concert will also feature Castleford Salvation Army Songsters and The Salvation Army's Territorial Commander, Commissioner Clive Adams, who will compère the evening.
Clarence Adoo was one of the country's top trumpeters before being paralysed from the shoulders down in a car accident in 1995, aged 35. As Clarence was not entitled to insurance payments following his car accident, the Clarence Adoo Trust was set up to enable him to retain an active and independent life.
Fantastic contribution
Since 2002, the concert has raised over £26,000 for Clarence's ongoing needs, with the musician telling 4BR: "Northern Highlights continues to be a very special date in the calendar and it has made a fantastic contribution to the trust over the years.
It's exciting that Hendon Band and Bobby Irvine are coming together once again to raise money for the trust, and I am enormously grateful to them and everyone involved in the concert for giving of their time and talents in this way."
