Allan Withington's reputation for breaking artistic boundaries will see him tackling culinary delights on his 9th Conducting Summer School in July.
Over the years his course has explored numerous inventive themes — from water and fashion and even prison; and this year's topic will be food — its connections and inspirations — aided by a Michelin star chef.
Chef's Special
Aside from cooking tips, delegates on the 'Chef's Special' Course will be able to work with two outstanding bands in Soli Brass and Manger Musikklag conducted by Allan — the latter in their run up to the defence of their World Music Championship title in Kerkrade.
"Great music and fantastic food are two of the loves of my life — so I thought 'why not bring them together',"Allan said. "We always try to bring a sense of innovation to what we do on the course and challenge our conductors, so I think we will certainly being doing that.
We still have a few places for conductors — so I hope people will get in touch to find out more and to come and enjoy a wonderful musical as well as culinary experience!
We guarantee great service and premium quality 100% natural healthy conducting!""
European trips
As always, Allan has been busy conducting and picking up a few cooking skills, with a recent trip to Austria to help the Austrian Brass Band during a weekend of workshops interspersed with visits to Swiss Champion Valaisia in their preparations for the European Championships and a recording session with Manger in Norway for two new CDs.
