The Cornish Championship Section Band, Roche Brass, has announced the appointment of Darren Hendy as its new Musical Director.
The experienced former Camborne and St Dennis principal cornet player also spent an enjoyable tenure at GUS Band, but returned to Cornwall in 1991 where he played under the baton of Derek Greenwood.
He has also worked with the likes of Bramwell Tovey, Frank Renton, Leonard Adams, Steve Sykes and John Berryman and performed as a guest player with Grimethorpe, Cory, Foden's and Brighouse & Rastrick.
New challenge
Darren told 4BR: "I'm delighted to embark on this new challenge as MD, and I'm looking forward to a happy and successful future with the band."
Band Manager, Richard Hawkey responded by saying: "We 're delighted that Darren accepted our invitation. The players were very impressed with the work he did in preparation for Garry Cutt to lead us at the recent West of England Area contest. Darren is a musician of the very highest quality."

Great asset
Meanwhile, Musical Advisor, Garry Cutt added: "I'm delighted that the band has secured the services of such an experienced person as Darren.
