Tongwynlais Temperance's successful Albert Hall qualification at the recent Welsh Regional Championships was certainly another boost for the band as they prepare for their Grand Shield appearance in Blackpool in a few weeks time.
Foundation builders
Part of the musical foundation for their success under the baton of Michael Fowles was provided by recent EEb tuba signings Andy Tossell and Anthony Bartley. The duo, made their contest debuts as the band won the Welsh Open in February, although they officially signed on the dotted line in time for the Brangwyn Hall contest.
Andy, who was making a welcome 'Ton' return, told 4BR: "It's great to be back. Having worked hard to establish the current band and its range of facilities I feel very much at home."
Meanwhile, Anthony added: "Ton has made me feel very welcome and I'm really pleased to be able to play in a band alongside my partner Jo Hirst on solo trombone."
