The forthcoming 'Brass at Beamish' contest run by Durham County Brass Band Association has announced that the event will be adjudicated by Alan Morrison.
The 'March & Hymn Tune' event will be held on Sunday 18th June in the grounds of award-winning Beamish Open Air Museum, near Stanley in County Durham. The contest will be open to all bands — with an approximate 12.30pm start and prize fund of over £1,350.
Entry
The entry fee is £40 for member bands and £70 for non member bands.
Entry forms are available from the secretary Mavis Lloyd (see below), with a closing date of 8th May. The draw for order of play will be made on 20th May.
Wonderful setting
Association spokesperson Hugh Stephenson told 4BR: "This will be the second year the contest has been held in the wonderful setting of Beamish Open Air Museum, near Stanley in County Durham.
We hope to build on the success of last year with a bigger entry of bands. Each competing bandsman can be accompanied by one supporter who will gain free admission. Admission on the day for others will be £6 (normally £19).
He added: "As an added attraction, each competing player will receive a free pint or soft drink, so potentially we could see the contest over-subscribed with entries!"
