Market Rasen boosted by Grants for the Arts funding

The Market Rasen Band gains substantial funding towards commissioning costs for new works in collaborative link with Black Dyke and composers William Himes and Paul Lovatt-Cooper.

Grants for Arts
Grants for Arts from Arts Council England has helped the project

Market Rasen Band has been awarded £13,000 towards a total project cost of £24,492 through 'Grants for the Arts' funding supported by using public funding by Arts Council England.

The project will see the commissioning of Paul Lovatt-Cooper and William Himes to write music for a large-scale collaborative concert with Black Dyke and Market Rasen Bands at Lincoln Cathedral in April 2018.

CD and workshops

Market Rasen will also produce a CD which will feature the new works and will also see them work with Prof Nicholas Childs to undertake professional development workshops which will be open to all conductors.

A further series of workshops will be delivered by the principal players of Black Dyke with brass players from the Midlands region.

These will be staged as part of a celebration weekend leading up to the Lincoln Cathedral concert, which will be promoted by United Health Group, who has their head office in the city.

Hirst thanks

A Market Rasen spokesperson told 4BR: "We are thrilled to be able to undertake this innovative project, and our thanks go to Carole Hirst for her work in providing the expert advice and professional co-ordination required to put together this successful application."
