4BR has been informed of the death of the popular and respected cornet player Dave Hodgetts of the Arrow Valley Brass Band, who died at home on 17th March.
Well respected
A spokesperson told 4BR: "Members of the band are struggling to come to terms with his sudden death. He was a very well respected and long serving principal cornet.
Dave died at home and had been in the band for 29 years — around 25 of which were as principal cornet."
An excellent player, he stood in as conductor and had run our training band. He was always there and it is very hard to envisage the band without himMD, David Stanley
Thoughts
MD David Stanley added: "Our thoughts are with Sue and the family. Theirs is the greatest loss. Dave was one of the cornerstones of the band and like a right arm to me.
