The Fairey Band hopes to inspire a new generation of young players in the Stockport area

This weekend members of the Fairey Band will help tutor players from Stockport Schools Senior and Intermediate Bands (SSBB), as they prepare for their forthcoming appearances at the National Youth Championships of Great Britain.

Training day

The training day at Stockport Music Service will mark a revival of a previous musical partnership between the organisations, with the hope that it will herald further collaborations.

Fairey flugel star, and former SSBB member, Lucy Cutt told 4BR: "Everyone at Fairey is delighted to be involved in this event, and to be able to give something back in this way.

We also look forward to future collaborations in supporting the musical development of young players in our 'home' area of Stockport".

Our players are looking forward to the day and the opportunities it will give them under such super players and an inspirational MDAlice Bell, SSBB administrator

Generous support

With generous support from Yamaha, the day will see full rehearsals conducted by course leader Mike Fowles, as well as sectional rehearsals led by the Fairey tutors. The event will be rounded off by a short concert.

Alice Bell, SSBB administrator added: "Our players are looking forward to the day and the opportunities it will give them under such super players and an inspirational MD.

We are very proud to represent Stockport and to renew our links with such a wonderful band."
