The Welsh Guards Band has just returned to their famous London home at the Wellington Barracks near Buckingham Palace after completing a highly successfully short tour of their home nation.
Showcase
Under the baton of Col Kevin Roberts they performed in two concerts in Milford Haven and Penarth, where they not only showcased their musical talents but also took the opportunity to inform potential recruits of the exciting pathways a career as an Army Musician, and especially within the Household Division, can offer.
The band presented a morning workshop followed by an afternoon concert at St Cyres School, Penarth, followed by a brace of evening concerts in Milford Haven and Penarth over their three day visit.
Fantastic response
Speaking exclusively to 4BR, Lt Col Roberts stated that the latest return across the Severn Bridge has been another thoroughly enjoyable experience for the band.
"We always enjoy performing of course, but to now link it with our outreach work and to show people from the communities of Wales just what fantastic career opportunities there are for talented musicians is also a great joy.
The response as always was fantastic — and the sense of pride on show from the Welsh people always makes for an uplifting experience."
