Derwent Brass from Derbyshire will embark on a series of new commissions this year to celebrate their 25th anniversary.
Progess
Starting as a Fourth Section in 1992, they have progressed under the baton of MD Keith Leonard to become a highly successful Championship Section outfit with a reputation for musical innovation.
In 2012 they commissioned Paul McGhee to write 'Episodes, Occurrences and Interludes'. Based on a series of personal anecdotes from the band's recent history it featured throughout the 20th anniversary year celebrations.
Composers
Since then, Derwent has utilised the talents of up and coming composers such as Lucy Pankhurst, Idar Torskangerpoll and Jonathan Bates, so little surprise then that in 2017 they have invited Paul Lovatt-Cooper to compose new concert work.
