To aid in preparation for their upcoming Durham League Contest and appearance at the National Brass Band for Youth event, tutors from the Reg Vardy Band have been working hard with students of the Egglescliffe School Band.
Confidence
Led by the band's players, the students benefited from an in-depth look at their parts both individually and as sections, before a final run through at the end of the day highlighted the confidence that was instilled in them.
Reg Vardy Band Manager Graeme Tindall told 4BR: "We thoroughly enjoyed the rewarding and fulfilling sessions with the students. It's always a pleasure to work with such motivated and committed young players — and we look forward to working together again in the near future."
Delighted
Meanwhile, Matthew Haworth, Head of Music told 4BR that he was delighted at the way the day went: "It was an absolute privilege for the students.
The level of tuition and encouragement was superb, and it was great that the Reg Vardy players gave up their time and energy on a weekend to encourage the next generation of brass banders."

Invest
He added: "We look forward to working with Reg Vardy into the future and it is wonderful to see, at a time when music education is very low on the political and educational agenda, that the brass band movement continues invest in, and encourage, our younger musicians."
