Black Dyke is inviting applications to become their 'Young Composer in Association' for 2017.
The role will see the successful candidate work closely with and be mentored by Prof Peter Graham, their 2017 'Composer in Residence', which will culminate in providing the Yorkshire champion with a major new work to be performed later in the year.

The opportunity forms part of the second year of a far-reaching 'Three Year Strategic Music Development Plan' for the band supported using public funding through the National Lottery through Arts Council England, and which has already seen Jonathan Bates work extensively with 2016 'Composer in Residence' Prof Edward Gregson.

Band Secretary David Hirst told 4BR: "The second year of the Music Development Plan starts in February, and we hope it will add to the success of the first year which saw Jonathan Bates work with Prof Edward Gregson.
